Smoothing of one- and two-dimensional discontinuities in potential energy surfaces

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE ²⁵²Cf, ²²²Th, ²¹⁸Ra; calculated one-dimensional fission paths in Q₂₀ direction, two-dimensional potential energy surfaces (PESs) in (Q₂₀, Q₃₀) plane. Axially symmetric calculations using self-consistent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov model with Gogny D1S interaction. Smoothing of discontinuities using optimised tree search algorithms to explore higher-dimensional potential energy surfaces.
