Evidence for ⁴⁰Ca core excitation from g factor and B(E2) measurements on the 2⁺₁ states of ^{42, 44}Ca

NUCLEAR REACTIONS C(⁴²Ca, ⁴²Ca'), (⁴⁴Ca, ⁴⁴Ca'), E=95 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ(θ, H, t), (particle)γ-coin, DSA following projectile Coulomb excitation. ^42,44Ca deduced levels T_1/2, g factors, B(E2), core excitation effects. Transient field technique. Comparison with shell model predictions.
