Beam-based scenario for 242mAm isomer depletion via nuclear excitation by electron capture

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 242Pu(d, 2n), (d, 3n), (d, F), E=6.2-7.5 MeV/nucleon; 238U(7Li, 3n), (7Li, 4n), (7Li, 5n), (7Li, F), E=5.0-6.3 MeV/nucleon; calculated σ(E) using GEMINI++ fusion-evaporation code. 7Li, 12C, 27Al(242Am, X), E=2.5-6.0 MeV/nucleon; calculated mean equilibrium charge state, resonance strength for nuclear excitation by electron capture (NEEC) process in 242mAm isomer as function of kinetic energy of 242mAm ions for capture of an electron into various subshells. 242mAm; discussed beam-based scenario for the production and depletion of the 141 y, 5- isomer through its excitation to the 52.7-keV level by electron capture.
