Relativistic effects in heavy-ion Coulomb scattering

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 208Pb(208Pb, 208Pb), E=100 MeV/nucleon; investigated relativistic effects such as retardation, relativistic mass change, and inclusion of magnetic interactions in elastic Coulomb scattering of nuclei; analyzed differences of theoretical σ and deflection angles between the two methods: one involving an exact account of interaction retardation, and the second based on the expansion of effective Lagrangians in powers of the ion velocities; deduced that analytical formulas described all aspects of relativistic effects in heavy-ion Coulomb scattering without the need to solve numerically the coupled equations.
