Nuclear pasta and symmetry energy in the relativistic point-coupling model

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 208Pb; calculated binding energy per nucleon versus symmetry energy based on PC-PK1 parameterization. Investigated influence of nuclear symmetry energy and its density dependence on pasta structures in neutron-rich nuclei by a coupling term between the isoscalar-vector and isovector-vector interactions using three-dimensional calculations based on Thomas-Fermi approximation, with the nuclear interaction from relativistic mean-field approach with the point-coupling interaction; deduced shapes as droplets, rods, slabs, tubes, and bubbles, and intermediate pasta structures in cold stellar matter with relatively large proton fractions. Relevance to inner crust of neutron stars and in core-collapse supernova explosions and neutron-star mergers.
