Measuring the cross section of the 15N(α, γ)19F reaction using a single-fluid bubble chamber

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 19F(γ, α)15N, E=4.0-5.4 MeV bremsstrahlung beam; measured reaction products; deduced yields, excitation functions, σ(E). 15N(α, γ)19F, E=4.7-5.4; deduced σ(E) using reciprocity theorem. Comparison to other experimental data. Single-fluid bubble chamber filled with C3F8 superheated liquid at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility.

High precision 5 MeV Mott polarimeter

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 197Au(polarized e, e), E=4.7, 5, 5.3 MeV; measured energy and timing of the scattered electrons, time-of-flight distribution of Mott coincidence triggers, E-ΔE histograms, normalized energy spectra, energy-time coincidence plots, Mott scattering asymmetries, and beam polarizations using a newly designed Mott polarimeter at the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) at Jefferson Lab; deduced Pade functions for asymmetries, differential σ(E). Comparison to GEANT4 simulation. Relevance to next generation of parity-violation measurements.
