Deducing the Initial Properties of Hot Nuclei Formed in Central Heavy-Ion Collisions

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ²⁷Al(²⁰Ne, xα), E(cm)=175 MeV; calculated α-energy distribution. ²⁷Al(²⁰Ne, xn), E=19.2 MeV/nucleon; calculated neutron multiplicities, average kinetic energies; deduced ⁴²Sc production with <E> ≈ 4 MeV/nucleon.
