Two-quasiparticle K-isomers and pairing strengths in the neutron-rich isotopes 174Er and 172Er

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 176Yb(136Xe, X)174Er/172Er, E=6.0 MeV/nucleon; measured prompt and delayed Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin. 172,174Er deduced high-spin levels, J, π, isomeric states, configurations. Gammasphere array, level systematics in neighboring isotones discussed.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 172,174Er, 174Yb, 176Hf, 178W, 180Os; calculated high-spin isomers energies; deduced pairing strength. Configuration-constrained potential-energy-surface calculations.
