249CF c 1967Ah02: {+253}Fm was produced from the {+252}Cf(|a,3n)
249CF2c nuclear reaction at Argonne cyclotron and was chemically separated
249CF3c from the fission products. It was noted that the high-energy |a groups
249CF5c from the decay of {+253}Fm are masked by the {+255}Fm and {+252}Fm
249CF6c |a peaks, whereas the |a groups below 6.682 MeV are obscured by the
249CF7c {+253}Es |a peaks which grows from the electron-capture decay of
249CF8c {+253}Fm during the measurement. Hence the sample was allowed to
249CF9c decay for approximately 10 days so that {+252}Fm (t{-1/2}= 25.39 h)
249CFac and {+255}Fm (t{-1/2}= 20.07 h) would decay to a very low
249CFbc level, allowing the |a decay from {+253}Fm to be measured without
249CFcc impurities. |a-particles were measured with a Au-Si
249CFdc surface-barrier detector, the |g rays were measured with a NaI(Tl)
249CFec detector and the conversion electrons were detected with a Si(Li)
249CFfc detector. Measured |a, |g, |a|g-coin, conversion electrons and t{-1/2}.
249CF c Others: 1959Si88, 1990Po14 (measured relative L and M x-ray
249CF2c intensities from the decay using the x-ray spectrometer)
