249CM c  1968Be21: {+253}Cf was produced from thermal neutron induced reaction
249CM2c  of {+252}Cf at the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) at the Oak Ridge
249CM3c  National Laboratory. It was then followed by chemical separation.
249CM4c  Alpha-particle energy spectra were measured using a silicon-gold
249CM5c  surface barrier detector. Collimators between the source and the
249CM6c  detector were used to minimize alpha-particle and fission-fragment
249CM7c  scattering from the detector edges. FWHM|?15 keV for the 6.119 MeV
249CM8c  |a particle decay {+252}Cf. Measured E|a and I|a.
249CM c  1966Rg01: Alpha decay was studied from decay of {+253}Cf from samples
249CM2c  of the Par and Barbel thermonuclear explosions. The samples were
249CM3c  chemically treated and purified. |a spectra were
249CM4c  measured with gold-silicon surface-barrier detectors. Measured E|a
249CM c  J({+253}Cf g.s.)=(7/2+), therefore, the favored |a branch
249CM2c  (HF=1.25 {I18}) is unlikely to go to the {+249}Cm g.s with J=1/2(+).
249CM3c  It most probably feeds the 50-keV (7/2+) state.
249CM cA HF$The nuclear radius parameter r{-0}({+249}Cm)=1.509 {I12} is deduced
249CM2cA from interpolation of radius parameters of the adjacent even-even
249CM3cA nuclides in 2020Si16
249CM cA E$Recommended value from 1991Ry01, based on adjusted values
249CM2cA from 1968Be21, 1966Rg01.
