241CM c 2004He28: |a and |g decay studies of {+253}No |){+249}Fm |){+245}Cm
241CM2c were performed at GSI, Darmstadt. |a-decays were measured with the
241CM3c position sensitive 16 strips PIPS detector and |g-rays with a clover
241CM4c detector consisting of four Ge detectors. Determined E|a, I|a and
241CM5c branching ratio and t{-1/2} of {+245}Cf
241CM c 1996Ma27: {+245}Cf produced by the {+238}U({+12}C,5n) reaction
241CM2c which was then followed by radiochemical separation. The |a decay,
241CM3c X-ray and |g rays were measured using a Si-surface barrier detector,
241CM4c a low energy photon detector and a HpGe detector, respectively

241CM cA E$From 1996Ma72, except as noted for the branches to the g.s. and
241CM2cA 56 keV level. The authors' values, relative to their value of 7145
241CM3cA for the g.s. branch, have been lowered by 7 keV to account for the
241CM4cA adopted value of 7137.9 for the g.s. branch
241CM cA IA$From 1996Ma72
241CM cA E,IA$The data for {+245}Cf |a decay are not consistent with
241CM2cA systematics. Other nuclides with configuration=1/2[631] whose |a decay
241CM3cA have been studied are {+239}Pu and {+241}Cm, both with N=145. For
241CM4cA {+245}Cf |a decay, the levels that are expected to be fed, given the
241CM5cA sensitivity of the work of 1996Ma72 are the members of the 1/2[631]
241CM6cA g.s. band whose feeding in {+239}Pu |a decay give hindrance factors of
241CM7cA 2.76, 9.49, 7.76, 765, and 1260 (2014Br17) for the
241CM8cA 1/2, 3/2, 5/2, and 7/2 members, respectively. In {+241}Cm |a decay the
241CM9cA values are 2.5 {I3}, 8.2 {I9}, 7.5 {I8}, 490 {I19}, and |?370,
241CMAcA consistent with, but not as precisely known as for {+239}Pu decay.
241CMBcA From the energies of the 1/2+, 3/2+, and 5/2+ observed members of the
241CMCcA g.s. 1/2[631] band, the authors calculate the 7/2+ member to be at 69
241CMDcA keV and the 9/2+ member to be at 160 keV. Using the hindrance factors
241CMEcA from {+239}Pu |a decay, one gets predicted intensities for branches to
241CMFcA the 1/2+ to 9/2+ levels of about 70%, 18%, 15%, 0.08%, and 0.04%,
241CMGcA respectively. The branches to the 1/2+ and 3/2+ members would of
241CMHcA course not be resolved.
241CMIcA The authors suggest that the 81 keV level, defined by their 7058
241CMJcA |a branch, is the band head of the 5/2[622] band; however,
241CMKcA it has been shown in {+245}Bk |e decay that this band head lies at
241CMLcA 267.8 keV, and from a hindrance factor of 3300 for the
241CMMcA branch to this level in {+239}Pu |a decay, one expects I|a|?0.003%
241CMNcA for this branch in {+245}Cf |a decay, too small to have been seen.
241CMOcA The 7058|a may correspond to the 7/2+ member of the g.s. band
241CMPcA instead; however, its intensity is much larger
241CMQcA than expected, as is the branch to the probable 9/2+ member. The
241CMRcA 7016|a may be spurious since no level is expected at 122 keV,
241CMScA especially with such a hindrance factor
