178HFxDL -ea-      I|g for |g rays deexciting this level do not agree with those
178HFxDL from the 2+ and 4+ levels at 1513 keV observed in (n,|g) E=thermal.
178HFxDL See also {+178}Lu |b{+-} decay (28.4 min) for population to a 1513.6
178HFxDL level.
178HFxDL -ea-      From an E0 component in the 1420|g to the 2+ 93 keV level,
178HFxDL and the E2 1513|g to 0+ g.s. (1972Li03), a J|p=2+ assignment would be
178HFxDL firmly established. On the other hand, the E0 component in the 151 keV
178HFxDL transition (1972Li03), which connects to the 2- 1362 keV level, implies
178HFxDL a J|p=2-. Furthermore, comparing the I|g branching ratios for the four
178HFxDL |g placed as deexciting this state, both here and in the {+178}Ta EC
178HFxDL (9.3 M) dataset, shows very good agreement for the 1420 and 1513 keV
178HFxDL transitions, but disagree significantly for the two low energy |g rays.
178HFxDL These results provide rather strong indication that this level is, at
178HFxDL least, a doublet. One of the components could possibly be the 2+ state
178HFxDL also seen in several of the neutron capture experiments, deexciting via
178HFxDL the 1420 and 1513 keV transitions. The other might probably be a J|p=2-
178HFxDL state connected to the 2- 1362 keV level by the 151 keV |g. Nothing
178HFxDL certain could be deduced about the placement of the 203.8|g since no
178HFxDL data are available to define its multipolarity.
