170YB c  The adopted decay scheme is that of 1972Ca21 with the
170YB2c  addition of a very large number of placements shown in the evaluation
170YB3c  by 1988DzZW and a much smaller number of placements proposed in
170YB4c  1990Gr19. Additional 0+ levels tentatively proposed by 1990Gr19
170YB5c  at 1770.0, 2147.8 and 2177.9 have not been included; in each case,
170YB6c  the transition to the 0+ g.s. had been observed in the |g spectrum so
170YB7c  1990Gr19 assumed it formed a doublet with the required E0 transition,
170YB8c  and most or all of the other deexciting transitions had alternative
170YB9c  placements. Interpretation of this decay is greatly complicated by
170YBAc  the large number of transitions (many of them multiply-placed) and
170YBBc  the inability of |a(K)exp data for singly-placed transitions to
170YBCc  differentiate between M2 and E0+M1+E2 transitions.
170YB cG           Total unplaced I|g is |? 3%.
170YB cG           {U|a(K)exp Data}:
170YB cG $Large ammount of data are from 1972Ca21, or from a combination of I|g
170YB2cG from 1972Ca21 and I(ce) from 1973TeZT, 1972Dz02, 1970Dz11 or 1968Ba54,
170YB3cG as noted for each datum (I(ce) from 1960Ha18 lack uncertainty
170YB4cG estimates and appear to be insufficiently reliable to be useful).
170YB3cG Due to the complexity of the spectrum, 1972Ca21 limited their use of
170YB4cG ce data to peaks which are well defined and for which the intensity
170YB5cG uncertainty is |<10%. Since |DI|g values for the relevant peaks do not
170YB6cG exceed 10%, the uncertainty in these measured |a(K)exp can be assumed
170YB7cG to be |<15%. 1972Ca21 used the 193, 1139, 1144.6, 1145.9, 1396 and
170YB8cG 1535 E2 transitions and the 1280 and 1365 E1 transitions for |a(K)exp
170YB9cG normalization. |a(K)exp values deduced by the evaluator from I|g of
170YBBcG 1972Ca21 and I(ce) of 1970Dz11 or 1968Ba54 agree well with those
170YBCcG deduced by 1972Ca21 for E below |?1600. However, at higher energies,
170YBDcG |a(K)exp values from 1972Ca21 tend to fall increasingly far below data
170YBEcG from other sources and theory (by as much as a factor of 2); since I|g
170YBFcG from 1972Ca21 and 1971Bo09 remain consistent, the high-energy I(ce)
170YBGcG normalization in 1972Ca21 may be at fault. For E>1600, |a(K)exp is
170YBHcG based on I(ce) from sources other than 1972Ca21 when possible.
170YB cG           Additional |a(K)exp values for many transitions are deduced
170YB2cG in 1988DzZW, an evaluation of {+170}Lu |e decay data. Since these are
170YB3cG based on ce measurements other than those of 1972Ca21 and appear to be
170YB4cG deduced from literature which is not readily accessible, the evaluator
170YB5cG quotes those |a(K)exp values also and attributes them to 1988DzZW
170YB6cG (except when adequate values can be deduced using I(ce(K)) in
170YB7cG 1968Ba54, 1970Dz11, 1972Dz02 or 1973TeZT). Note that 1988DzZW
170YB8cG normalized their |a(K)exp values using 985|g, 1512|g, 2126|g, 2364|g,
170YB9cG 2496|g, 2748|g, 2783|g, 2940|g and 2966|g, all of which feed the 0+
170YBAcG g.s.; this leads to |a(K)exp values that are 10% lower than ones
170YBBcG deduced using 1972Ca21's normalization, but the evaluator has not
170YBCcG adjusted |a(K)exp from 1988DzZW accordingly since the statistical
170YBxcG uncertainties are usually the more significant ones.
