General Comments:

2003MoZX, 2003MoZT: Activity produced by 197Au(40Ar,3n) E=188.4 and 196.9 MeV. 234Bk was identified using a gas-filled recoil separator, and by genetic correlations with daughter nuclides from the α-decay chain. Measured Eα=7850 keV 50. The data suggested the possible existence of an isomer in 234Bk (nearly 100 keV apart from the other observed state (2003MoZT)) from the observed long lifetime (or the variation of decay time of α events with a similar energy).

2016Ka13: 234Bk was produced from 197Au(40Ar,3n) reaction. 40Ar beam, E=189.5 MeV, was delivered by the RIKEN heavy ion linear accelerator. Recoil products of interest (234Bk) were separated by RIKEN’s gas-filled recoil ion separator (GARIS), guided to a gas-jet chamber, stopped in helium gas and attached to KCL aerosols, collected and transported by a rotating wheel system to a position between seven pairs of Si PIN-diode detectors for α/SF spectroscopy. Measured 17 234Bk α decays at the energies of 7.62-7.96 MeV, which were correlated with 230Am (β+/ε and then 230Pu α decay (11 counts) and fission events (6 counts)), and 17 decay chains of 234Bk (β+/ε). 234Bk T1/2 was deduced from these results. 2010KaZV is an earlier report by the same group.
