General Comments:

1986Gi08: α beam of 11.4 MeV/u 238U bombarded a natural W(238U,X) target at 10 particle nA. The target foils and several tantalum foils to stop the reaction products were mounted inside the thermal-ion source of the online mass separator. Secondary beams of selected mass numbers were collected simultaneously at tape transport systems. Each sample was transported from the collector to the measuring position, which was equipped with two Ge detectors arranged in 180o geometry with a 0.5 mm thick 4π plastic scintillator in between as a β detector. T1/2 was determined from decay curves of γ-rays and X-rays (known or deduced from known level spacings) from daughter nuclei, 234Th.

2008ChZI: Measured masses of 670 MeV/u 238U projectile fragments (produced with a 9Be target) with time-resolved Schottky Mass Spectrometry at GSI. Proposed two long-lived isomers of 234Ac at 140 keV 30 and 620 keV 30, but since these were not discussed in the followup publication 2012Ch19, evaluator does not adopt them. They also determined T1/2 from the number of 234Ac ions stored in the storage ring as a function of time.

Q-value: S(2n)=10456 19, S(2p)=15810 20 (2021Wa16)
