First spectroscopic study of odd-odd 78Cu

RADIOACTIVITY 78Ni(β-)[from 9Be(238U, X), E=345 MeV/nucleon]; measured Eγ, Iγ, βγ-coin, γγ-coin; deduced β-feeding, γ-transition intensities. 78Cu; deduced levels J, π, T1/2 of isomer state. Comparison with Monte Carlo shell model (MCSM) calculations. Wide-range active silicon-strip stopper array for beta and ion detection (WAS3ABi) with EURICA HPGe cluster det ector array at RIBF (RIKEN).

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 78Cu; calculated levels, J, π, occupation numbers of proton and neutron orbitals, excitation energies of the negative-parity multiplets, configurations. Monte Carlo shell model calculations performed using A3DA-m interaction. Comparison with experimental data.

RADIOACTIVITY 75Ni(β-), (β-n)[from 9Be(238U, F), E=345 MeV/nucleon, followed by mass separation and identification of fragments of interest using the BigRIPS separator and ZeroDegree spectrometer, and implanted in WAS3ABi stopper at RIBF-RIKEN facility]; measured Eβ, Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, (implants)β-correlations, (implants)βγ-coin using the EURICA array for γ detection, half-life and %β-n or Pn for the decay of 75Ni. 75Cu; deduced levels, J, π, Iβ, logft values. Comparison with Monte Carlo shell model (MCSM) calculations. 74Cu, 75,76,77,78Zn, 76,80,81Ga, 80,81Ge(β-); observed γ rays in spectral Fig. 1.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 75Cu; calculated levels, J, π. 75,77Cu; calculated occupation numbers of proton and neutron orbits, potential energy surfaces for different spin states. 69,71,73,75,77,79Cu; systematics of energies of the first 1/2- states and corresponding B(E2) values, energies and decay sequences of particle-core coupling states, intruder states. NUCLEAR REACTIONS C, 197Au(136Te, 136Te'), C(137Te, 136Te), E=139, 140 MeV/nucleon, [secondary 136,137Te beam from 9Be(238U, F), E=345 MeV/nucleon primary reaction]; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, σ(θ), exclusive σ following Coulomb excitation to individual excited states using the DALI2 spectrometer array for γ detection, and the BigRIPS and ZeroDegree spectrometers for beam and product identification, respectively at RIBF-RIKEN facility. 136Te; deduced levels, J, π, B(E2) values. Comparison with theoretical predictions, and with previous experimental results. Systematics of B(E2) values for the first 2+ states in 132,134,136Te.

RADIOACTIVITY 72Co(β-), (β-n), (β-2n), 73Co(β-n)[from 9Be(238U, F), E=345 MeV/nucleon using BigRIPS separator and ZeroDegree spectrometer at RIBF-RIKEN facility]; measured Eγ, Iγ, βγγ-coin, (72Co implants)β-correlations, half-lives of low-spin and high-spin activities of 72Co using WAS3ABi setup and EURICA array, level half-lives by fast-timing γγ(t) method. 72Ni; levels, J, π, β feedings, logft values, configurations. 70,71Ni; observed γ rays from β-delayed-neutron decay of 72Co. Comparison with previous experimental results, and with simple shell-model calculations including only neutron excitations across the fpg shells.
