Measurements of ordinary muon capture rates on 100Mo and natural Mo for astro-antineutrinos and double-β decays

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Mo, 100Mo(μ-, X), E at 45-55 MeV/c; measured Eγ, Iγ, muonic X-rays; deduced ordinary muon capture on natural Mo and 100Mo, muon absolute lifetimes. Comparison to previous experimental data and to the theoretical results obtained with Goulard-Primakoff empirical equations. Discussed relevance to astro-antineutrinos and double-β-decay studies. Negative muon beam generated in the MuSIC facility via proton-graphite interactions at Osaka University's Research Centre for Nuclear Physics (RCNP). Gamma-rays and muonic x-rays measured with 1 planar-type and two coaxial end-type HPGe detectors.

Comparison with shell model calculations using GXPF1J interaction, and with evaluated experimental data. Comparison of experimental level spectra in 64Ga and 64Cu, the latter from 64Zn(d, 2He)64Cu measured in 2008Gr10.

Comparison with predictions of Skyrme-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) plus quasiparticle random phase approximation (QRPA) model, and axially symmetric-deformed Gogny HFB plus QRPA model of E1 γ-ray strength using TALYS code.
