High-Spin States of ₃₈⁸⁸Sr₅₀: Breaking of the neutron core

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ¹⁷⁶Yb(²⁸Si, F)⁸⁸Sr, E=145 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin following compound nucleus fission. ⁸⁸Sr deduced high-spin levels, possible J, π, configurations. Eurogam2 array. Comparison with neighboring isotones, quasiparticle-phonon model calculations.
