New states in ¹⁸Na and ¹⁹Mg observed in the two-proton decay of ¹⁹Mg

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ⁹Be(²⁰Mg, 2p¹⁷Ne), [²⁰Mg secondary beam from ⁹Be(²⁴Mg, X), E=450 MeV/nucleon primary reaction], E not given; measured particle spectra, (proton)(proton)(¹⁷Ne)(θ), intensity distribution contours using microstrip detectors. ¹⁹Mg, ¹⁸Na; deduced decay energies, levels, J, π, proton decay widths. ¹⁹Mg; deduced simultaneous and sequential 2p decays from ground states and excited states, dominance of sequential 2p decay from excited states. Comparison with shell model calculations.

RADIOACTIVITY ¹⁸Na(p), ¹⁹Mg(2p); measured proton branches; deduced one proton and two-proton decay energies. Dominance of direct 2p decay from ¹⁹Mg ground state.
