First Observation of Excited States in ¹¹⁸Ba: Possible evidence for octupole correlations in neutron-deficient barium isotopes

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ⁵⁸Ni(⁶⁴Zn, 2n2p), E=265 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, (recoil)γ-, (X-ray)γ-coin. ¹¹⁸Ba deduced high-spin levels, J, π, evidence for octupole correlations. Comparison with neighboring isotopes, TRS calculations.
