Direct demonstration of the two-phonon structure of the J^π = 1^-_4742keV

RADIOACTIVITY ⁸⁸Rb(β^-)[from ⁸⁷Rb(n, γ), E=reactor spectrum]; measured Eγ, Iγ. ⁸⁸Sr; deduced levels, J, π, B(E2), B(E1), branching ratios. Comparison to theoretical estimations made with energy-density functional (EDF) and quasiparticle phonon model (QPM). Probed quadrupole-octupole coupled two-phonon structure of 1^- 4742-keV state in ⁸⁸Sr. Systematics of B(E2) value branching ratios for two-phonon 1^- states in ⁴⁰Ca, ⁸⁸Sr, ¹⁴²Nd, ¹⁴⁴Nd, ¹⁴⁴Sm. Neutron-activation of natural Rb was conducted at the TRIGA Mark II research reactor at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz. Measurements performed with HPGe detector.
