Lifetime measurement of excited states in 144Ce: Enhanced E1 strengths in a candidate for octupole deformation
NUCLEAR REACTIONS 142Ce(18O, 16O), E=67 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, (16O)γ-coin, half-lives of the first 2+, 3-, 4+ and 6+, and second 4+ states by recoil-distance Doppler-shift method at the Cologne FN Tandem accelerator. 144Ce; deduced levels, J, π, B(E1), B(E2), enhanced E1 strengths, intrinsic dipole transition moment D0, octupole deformation. Comparison with shell model predictions, and with B(E2) in 142Ba. Systematics of B(E2) values for the first 2+ states for N=82-92, Ce, Ba, and Nd isotopes.
