The role of core excitations in the structure and decay of the 16+ spin-gap isomer in 96Cd

RADIOACTIVITY 96Cd(EC), (ECp), 95Cd(EC) [from 9Be(124Xe, X)96Cd/95Cd, E=345 MeV/nucleon]; measured decay products, Eβ, Iβ, Eγ, Iγ, Ep, Ip; deduced first evidence for β-delayed proton emission, βp branching ratios, precise T1/2 for the ground and isomeric states. Comparison with shell model calculations employing the Gross-Frenkel (GF) effective interaction.
