First evidence of γ collectivity close to the doubly magic core 132Sn

RADIOACTIVITY 248Cm(SF); measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, γγ(θ) using EUROGAM2 array. 138Te, 140Xe; deduced high-spin levels, J, π, bands, multipolarities, mixing ratios, configurations. Comparison with shell-model calculations. Systematics of negative- and positive-parity levels in N=86 isotones 136Sn, 138Te, 140Xe, 142Ba, 144Ce, 146Nd, 148Sm, 150Gd. 106,108Ru; observed γ rays.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 138Te, 140Xe; calculated levels, J, π, B(E2), quadrupole moments, deformation parameter β using shell model.
