First Observation of Multiphonon γ-Vibrations in an Odd-Odd Nuclear System

RADIOACTIVITY 104Nb(IT) [from 252Cf(SF)]; measured decay products, Eγ, Iγ, γ-γ-γ-, γ-γ-γ-γ-coin; deduced γ-ray energies, level scheme, isomeric state T1/2. The Gammasphere with 101 high purity germanium detectors at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 9Be(238U, X)104Nb, E=6.2 MeV/nucleon; measured reaction products, Eγ, Iγ; deduced γ-ray energies, J, π, multiphonon γ-vibrational bands, high-spin structures, B(M1)/B(E2). Comparison with triaxial projected shell model calculations. The EXOtic GAMma-ray spectrometer (EXOGAM) array and Advanced GAmma Tracking Array (AGATA) γ-ray tracking array, VAMOS++ spectrometer at the Grand Accelerateur National d'Ions Lourds (GANIL).
