Impact of complex many-body correlations on electron capture in thermally excited nuclei around 78Ni

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 76,78,80Ni, 76Fe, 80Zn; calculated Gamow-Teller GT+ spectra, electron capture rates as a function of temperature from T=0 to 2.0 MeV, and electron density using finite-temperature proton-neutron relativistic random phase approximation (FT-pnRRPA) and finite-temperature proton-neutron relativistic time blocking approximation (FT-pnRTBA). Comparison of electron capture rates to thermal quasiparticle random phase approximation (TQRPA) calculations.
