Shape Transition and Isovector Giant Quadrupole Resonance Decay in Hot Rotating Nuclei

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ¹⁸⁰Hf(¹²C, X)¹⁹²Pt/¹⁸⁸Os, E=65 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ; deduced deformed non-spherical shape, excess yield of high-energy γ-rays, possible first observation of the Isovector Giant Quadrupole Resonance (IVGQR) on excited state.
