Covariant density functional theory: The role of the pion

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE ^40,48Ca, ^48,56Ni, ^100,132Sn, ²⁰⁸Pb, Sn A=116-152; calculated binding energies, single particle energies and spin orbit splitting of the doublets using relativistic mean field (RMF) theory and relativistic Hartree-Fock approximation. Discussed the role of the pion in covariant density functional theory. Comparison with experimental data.
