Linear Polarization Measurement of Interband Transitions in Superdeformed ¹⁹⁰Hg: Model-independent evidence for octupole vibrational structures

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ¹⁶⁰Gd(³⁴S, 4n), E=156 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, γ-ray polarization. ¹⁹⁰Hg deduced superdeformed bands, multipolarity of interband transitions, octupole collective nature of excited superdeformed band. Euroball IV array.
