First Evidence for the Wobbling Mode in a Triaxial Superdeformed Odd-A Nucleus

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ¹³⁹La(²⁹Si, 5n), E=152 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin. ¹⁶³Lu deduced high-spin levels, J, π, triaxial superdeformed band, B(M1)/B(E2), wobbling mode. Euroball IV array. Particle-rotor model calculations.
