(³He, d) and (α, t) Reaction Studies of ¹⁵⁴Gd: Nature of Kπ = 4⁺ Bands in Heavy Deformed Nuclei

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ¹⁵³Eu(³He, d), E=24 MeV; measured σ(E, θ=30° and 60°). ¹⁵³Eu(α, t), E=27 MeV; measured σ(E, θ=45° and 60°). ¹⁵⁴Gd deduced levels, two-quasiproton admixtures. Enriched targets, magnetic spectrograph. Double-γ-phonon vs hexadecapole interpretations compared.
