Observation of the Astrophysically Important 3⁺ State in ¹⁸Ne via Elastic Scattering of a Radioactive ¹⁷F Beam from ¹H

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ¹H(¹⁷F, ¹⁷F), E ≈ 10-12 MeV; measured proton yields, (proton)(fluorine)-coin. ¹⁸Ne deduced resonance energy, width. ¹⁷F(p, γ), E not given; calculated resonance contribution to proton capture rate. Astrophysical implications discussed.
