Evidence for Superdeformation in ¹⁴⁸Gd

RADIOACTIVITY ¹⁴⁸Gd(α) [from ¹¹⁶Cd(³⁶S, 4n), E=170 MeV]; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, energy correlations. ¹⁴⁸Gd deduced moment of inertia superdeformation. Compton suppressed Ge detectors. Cranked Strutinsky calculations.
