Electromagnetic Properties of Excited Bands in ²³⁸U

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ²³⁸U(α, α'), E=16, 17 MeV; ²³⁸U(¹⁶O, ¹⁶O'), E=51.2, 52 MeV; measured αγ-coin, σ(Eα), σ(E(¹⁶O)), Coulomb excitation. ²³⁸U levels deduced quadrupole moment, electromagnetic transition matrix elements, collective effects. Semiclassical, quantum mechanical coupled-channels analysis.
