Evidence for Deformation Effect on the Giant Monopole Resonance

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ¹⁴⁰Ce, ^144,150,152Sm, ¹⁵⁹Tb, ¹⁶⁵Ho, ¹⁶⁹Tm, ¹⁸¹Ta, ¹⁹⁷Au, ²⁰⁸Pb, ²³²Th(³He, ³He'), E=108.5 MeV; measured σ(E(³He), θ). ¹⁴⁰Ce, ^144,150,152Sm, ¹⁵⁹Tb, ¹⁶⁵Ho, ¹⁶⁹Tm, ¹⁸¹Ta, ¹⁹⁷Au, ²⁰⁸Pb, ²³²Th deduced giant monopole resonance, Γ, EWSR strengths, coupling to giant quadrupole vibrations.
