Organization View

The mission of the US Nuclear Data Program (USNDP) is to maintain the currency and viability of the nuclear structure and nuclear reaction data bases as a national resource, to respond to and address the evolving priorities and needs of its user communities and to make this national resource available to the users of nuclear data in a straightforward and user-friendly manner.
Sponsorship:      Members of the US Nuclear Data Program are funded by the Division of Nuclear Physics, Office of High Energy and Nuclear Physics, Office of Science US Department of Energy. The current Program Manager for Nuclear Theory is Dr. Gulsham Rai (designee).
Coordinating
Committee:
The Coordinating Committee is composed of one representative from each organization participating in the nuclear data program. Its purpose is to organize the work of the program. The technical work of the program is carried out through two Working Groups. The present chairman of the Coordinating Committee is Dr. Pavel Oblozinsky, Head of the National Nuclear Data Center at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
Working
Groups:
The following working groups are currently active:
Nuclear Reaction Data:
The Nuclear Reaction Data Working Group helps to coordinate nuclear reaction cross section work being performed under the USNDP. It is comprised of researchers from US national laboratories and universities. The current chairman of the group is Dr. Mark B. Chadwick, Los Alamos National Laboratory. A more detailed description of the group's activities may be found here.
Nuclear Structure and Decay Data:
This Working Group was formed in March 1998 to coordinate the work of the evaluators in the United States and Canada that provide evaluated nuclear structure and decay data for the Evaluated Nuclear Structure Data File (ENSDF) which is maintained by the National Nuclear Data Center at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
The current chairman of the group is Coral M. Baglin, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory The leaders of the associated evaluation groups at the various participating institutions are: Jagdish K. Tuli, Brookhaven National Laboratory; Richard G. Helmer, Idaho Group; Eric Norman, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; Balraj Singh, McMaster University; Yurdanur Akovali, Oak Ridge National Laboratory; and John H. Kelley, Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory.
If you have suggestions for improvements of the ENSDF data system, or if you perceive what might be an error or an inconsistency in the ENSDF data, please send the suggestion or a description of the problem to the National Nuclear Data Center.
Task
Forces:
Task Forces are formed as needed to address specific needs of the U.S. Nuclear Data Program and the user community. These task forces consist of members from one or more of the working groups and interested persons from the user community. At present, there are three task forces:
Astrophysics (M. S. Smith, chair)
Impact of Nuclear Data on Society (J.H. Kelley, chair)
Rare Isotope Accelerators (M. B. Chadwick, chair)
Laboratories
