We use the GNASH code 2631 1451 72 system [Yo92], which utilizes Hauser-Feshbach statistical, 2631 1451 73 preequilibrium and direct-reaction theories. Spherical optical 2631 1451 74 model calculations are used to obtain particle transmission 2631 1451 75 coefficients for the Hauser-Feshbach calculations, as well as 2631 1451 76 for the elastic neutron angular distributions. 2631 1451 77 Cross sections and spectra for producing individual residual 2631 1451 78 nuclei are included for reactions that exceed a cross section of 2631 1451 79 approximately 1 nb at any energy. The energy-angle-correlations 2631 1451 80 for all outgoing particles are based on Kalbach systematics 2631 1451 81 [Ka88]. 2631 1451 82 A model was developed to calculate the energy distributions of 2631 1451 83 all recoil nuclei in the GNASH calculations [Ch96b]. The recoil 2631 1451 84 energy distributions are represented in the laboratory system in 2631 1451 85 MT=5, MF=6, and are given as isotropic in the lab system. Note 2631 1451 86 that all other data in MT=5,MF=6 are given in the center-of-mass 2631 1451 87 system. This method of representation requires a modification of 2631 1451 88 the original ENDF-6 format. 2631 1451 89 Preequilibrium corrections were performed in the course of the 2631 1451 90 GNASH calculations using the exciton model of Kalbach [Ka77, 2631 1451 91 Ka85], validated by comparison with calculations using Feshbach, 2631 1451 92 Kerman, Koonin (FKK) theory [Ch93]. Discrete level data from 2631 1451 93 nuclear data sheets were matched to continuum level densities 2631 1451 94 using the formulation of Ignatyuk [Ig75] and pairing and shell 2631 1451 95 parameters from the Cook [Co67] analysis. Neutron and charged- 2631 1451 96 particle transmission coefficients were obtained from the 2631 1451 97 optical potentials, as discussed below. Gamma-ray transmission 2631 1451 98 coefficients were calculated using the Kopecky-Uhl model [Ko90]. 2631 1451 99 The neutron optical model potential of Arthur et al. [Ar80] 2631 1451 100 was used to calculate transmission coefficients and cross 2631 1451 101 sections with the SCAT2 code [Be92] up to a neutron energy of 26 2631 1451 102 MeV. Between 26 and 52 MeV, the imaginary volume component of 2631 1451 103 Arthur's potential was modified to better account for nonelastic 2631 1451 104 cross section measurements, and above 52 MeV the Semmering 2631 1451 105 potential of Madland [Ma88] was used. For protons, the 2631 1451 106 Beccetti-Greenlees potential [Be69] was utilized below 28 MeV, 2631 1451 107 and the Madland potential [Ma88] was used at higher energies. 2631 1451 108 The global spherical potential of Perey [Pe63] was utilized for 2631 1451 109 deuterons, and the potential of Beccetti-Greenlees [Be71] 2631 1451 110 was adopted for tritons. Finally, the alpha potential of Lemos 2631 1451 111 [Le72], as adapted by Arthur et al.
