The description of 1725 1451 18 those data in the JENDL3.2 evaluation is repeated below. 1725 1451 19 1725 1451 20 MF=2 RESONANCE PARAMETERS 1725 1451 21 MT=151 RESOLVED RESONANCE PARAMETERS(BELOW 226KEV) 1725 1451 22 Resolved resonance parameters for MLBW formula. 1725 1451 23 Negative energy level parameters were adjusted to reproduce 1725 1451 24 2200m/s cross sections. 1725 1451 25 Evaluation was mainly based on Macklin's data [1] and 1725 1451 26 Mughabghab's compilation [2]. 1725 1451 27 Below 226 keV, (n,p) and (n,alpha) cross sections were given 1725 1451 28 as background total cross section. 1725 1451 29 1725 1451 30 Calculated 2200-m/s cross sections and res. integrals (barns) 1725 1451 31 2200 m/s Res. Adams and S.C. Frankle (Ad98). 1725 1451 39 1725 1451 40 1725 1451 41 NEUTRON ENERGIES ABOVE 226 keV 1725 1451 42 1725 1451 43 SUMMARY 1725 1451 44 This evaluation is based primarily on a theoretical analysis 1725 1451 45 between neutron energies of 100 keV and 20 MeV that is optimized 1725 1451 46 to the somewhat limited available experimental data. Elastic 1725 1451 47 and inelastic scattering angular distributions (through MT=70) 1725 1451 48 are taken from the JENDL3.2 evaluation [Wa94]. Also, the MF3, 1725 1451 49 MT102 data of JENDL below 4 MeV were adopted. 1725 1451 50 The theoretical calculations utilize Hauser-Feshbach 1725 1451 51 statistical theory with corrections for width fluctuations, 1725 1451 52 preequilibrium and direct reaction processes. Spherical optical 1725 1451 53 model calculations are used to obtain the neutron total cross 1725 1451 54 section and neutron, proton, deuteron, triton, and alpha 1725 1451 55 transmission coefficients. 1725 1451 56 Cross sections and spectra for individual reactions are 1725 1451 57 included for exiting neutron, proton, deuteron, alpha, and 1725 1451 58 gamma-ray reactions. Multiplicities, angular distributions, and 1725 1451 59 emission energy spectra are given for gamma rays, particles, and 1725 1451 60 recoil nuclei emitted in the dominant reactions, utilizing File 1725 1451 61 6 of the ENDF/B-6 format [Ro91]. Energy-angle-correlated 1725 1451 62 spectra are given for all outgoing particles and photons, and 1725 1451 63 residual nuclei energy distributions are included. 1725 1451 64 1725 1451 65 THEORY 1725 1451 66 1725 1451 67 HAUSER-FESHBACH STATISTICAL THEORY CALCULATIONS. The GNASH 1725 1451 68 code [Yo92] was used for all Hauser-Feshbach statistical theory 1725 1451 69 calculations. Preequilibrium corrections were performed in the 1725 1451 70 course of the GNASH calculations using the exciton model of 1725 1451 71 Kalbach [Ka77,Ka85]. Discrete level data from nuclear data 1725 1451 72 sheets were matched to continuum level densities using the 1725 1451 73 formulation of Gilbert and Cameron [Gi65] and pairing and shell 1725 1451 74 parameters from the Cook [Co67] analysis. Neutron and charged- 1725 1451 75 particle transmission coefficients were obtained from the 1725 1451 76 optical potentials, as discussed below. Gamma-ray transmission 1725 1451 77 coefficients were calculated using the Kopecky-Uhl model [Ko90]. 1725 1451 78 Calculations were performed for all significant reactions 1725 1451 79 producing neutrons, protons, deuterons, alpha particles, and 1725 1451 80 gamma rays for incident neutrons between 100 keV and 20 MeV. 1725 1451 81 The angular distribution systematics by Kalbach [Ka88] were 1725 1451 82 used to describe the angular distributions for all continuum 1725 1451 83 particles. 1725 1451 84 1725 1451 85 OPTICAL MODEL POTENTIALS. For incident and exiting neutrons, 1725 1451 86 a phenomenological optical model potential by Arthur and Young 1725 1451 87 [Ar80], based on an analysis of n + Fe and p + Fe reactions, was 1725 1451 88 utilized for the neutron transmission coefficients, whereas the 1725 1451 89 potential of Watanabe [Wa94] was used to calculate the neutron 1725 1451 90 total cross section. The two differenct potentials were used 1725 1451 91 because on the one hand the Watanabe potential agreed well with 1725 1451 92 total cross section measurements, whereas the Arthur potential 1725 1451 93 appears to give a better reaction cross section, which is very 1725 1451 94 important for Hauser-Feshbach calculations. The SCAT2 optical 1725 1451 95 model code [Be92] was used for all calculations. 1725 1451 96 To obtain transmission coefficients for charged particle 1725 1451 97 reactions, the Beccetti-Greenlees potential [Be71] was used for 1725 1451 98 protons, the Perey and Perey [Pe63] potential for deuterons, the 1725 1451 99 Beccetti-Greenlees potential [Be69] for tritons,and the 1725 1451 100 potential of MacFadden [Mc66] was used for alpha particles. 1725 1451 101 1725 1451 102 DIRECT REACTIONS: Energy-dependent cross sections of 1725 1451 103 inelastic neutrons from 35Cl(n,n') direct reactions were 1725 1451 104 obtained using DWUCK calculations and deformation parameters 1725 1451 105 estimated from systematics using the compilations of Raman et 1725 1451 106 al. [Ra89] and Spear [Sp89]. 1725 1451 107 1725 1451 108 EVALUATED DATA 1725 1451 109 1725 1451 110 CALCULATIONAL RESULTS. In addition to the usual Hauser- 1725 1451 138 Feshbach cross section component obtained using the Kopecky-Uhl 1725 1451 139 gamma-ray strength function, a semidirect component is included 1725 1451 140 in GNASH that enhances the cross section and hardens the 1725 1451 141 spectrum near En = 10-18 MeV. 1725 1451 142 Discrete (n,n') cross sections and angular distributions were 1725 1451 143 calculated using a combination of the GNASH and COMNUC [Du70] 1725 1451 144 codes for compound nucleus reactions. Preequilibrium components 1725 1451 145 were included in the (n,n') reactions at higher energies to 1725 1451 146 approximate direct reaction effects (in an average manner) for 1725 1451 147 discrete states not included in the DWUCK calculations. Cross 1725 1451 148 sections for a total of 30 excited states are included for 35Cl. 1725 1451 149 Discrete gamma-ray cross sections that exceed 1 mb are included 1725 1451 150 explicitly in the MF=6 distributions for all reactions. The 1725 1451 151 elastic angular distributions are included in in MF =4; the 1725 1451 152 (n,n') angular distributions and (n,n'gamma) multiplicities are 1725 1451 153 included in MF=6. 1725 1451 154 Cross sections (MF=3) for approximately 20 or more discrete 1725 1451 155 states are included for charged-particle reactions. Again, 1725 1451 156 multiplicities for (n,x gamma) reactions are included in MF=6. 1725 1451 157 Kalbach systematics (Ka88) are used to specify all continuum 1725 1451 158 particle angular distributions in MF=6. All continuum photon 1725 1451 159 angular distributions are assumed isotropic. Residual nucleus 1725 1451 160 recoil energy spectra are included in MF=6 for all reactions. 1725 1451 161 1725 1451 162 USE OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA. The available experimental data for 1725 1451 163 35Cl is somewhat limited. Data that were useful for the 1725 1451 164 evaluation are measurements of the neutron total cross section 1725 1451 165 for natural Cl; measurements of (n,gamma) cross sections for 1725 1451 166 35Cl and 37Cl at lower energies; and a few isolated 1725 1451 167 measurements near 14 MeV of (n,2n) or (n,x) reactions leading to 1725 1451 168 radioactive products. 1725 1451 169 The only adjustment made to the calculated cross sections on 1725 1451 170 the basis of the experimental data was to fine tune the 1725 1451 171 normalization of the gamma-ray strength function calculations 1725 1451 172 using the radiative capture measurement.
