Abstract

The new neutron-deficient isotope U216 was produced in the complete-fusion reaction W180(Ar40,4n)U216. The evaporation residues were separated from the primary beam in flight by the gas-filled recoil separator Spectrometer for Heavy Atoms and Nuclear Structure. The activities have been identified by the αα position and time correlation measurements. Two α-decaying states with Eα=8384(30) keV, T1/2=4.721.57+4.72 ms for the ground state and Eα=10582(30) keV, T1/2=0.740.29+1.34 ms for an isomeric state were identified in U216.
