Ternary fission of <sup>260</sup>No in collinear configuration
2016, Annals of PhysicsCitation Excerpt :The high nuclear deformations at this point lower the ternary fission barrier for a given mass and charge fragmentation and then the penetration probability of the three formed clusters increases [4,22]. Due to the repulsive Coulomb interaction between the three fragments, very light particles prefer to emit in the direction perpendicular to the binary fission axis, equatorial emission [10,13]. The collinear configuration is most likely for the ternary fission with larger mass of the light fragment and true ternary fission [23].
