Abstract

The 21+ and 22+ states of the neutron-rich isotope Ge80 were studied by intermediate-energy heavy-ion scattering, providing for the first time the experimental value of B(E2;22+0g.s.+) for Ge80. The experimental data are well reproduced by large-scale shell model calculations, which suggest the important role of the proton particle-hole 2p3/21f5/2 excitation in the configuration of the 22+ state.
