Abstract

The high spin excited states of neutron-rich nuclei Sm159 and Kr89,91 are identified for the first time from the spontaneous fission of Cf252. Six excited states and six γ transitions in Sm159 are reported here for the first time. Five and two new γ transitions are identified in Kr89 and Kr91, respectively. Level schemes in Kr89,91 are interpreted as the 2d5/2 neutron hole configuration weakly coupled to the neighboring even-even Kr nuclei. A possible yrast spin sequence of 11/29/2+5/2+ is suggested in Kr89. A rotational band with the proposed configuration of ν5/2[523] is observed in Sm159.
