Abstract

High spin states up to spin 41/2 were populated in Nd139 using the heavy ion fusion evaporation reaction. The low spin states below 19/2 indicate a triaxial shape. Two dipole bands, one negative parity and the other positive parity, have been identified in the present work. The configurations of different high spin states are discussed from a systematic comparison with neighboring N=79 odd mass isotopes. The observed dipole bands are compared with the results of the tilted axis cranking calculations.
