Shell model Monte Carlo studies of pairing correlations and level densities in medium-mass nuclei

Abstract

We have performed shell model Monte Carlo (SMMC) calculations of even–even, odd-A and odd–odd nuclei in the mass A70 region as function of temperature. The calculations have been performed in the complete (pfgds) shell using a pairing + quadrupole residual interaction. We calculate the level densities for these nuclei and investigate the influence of pairing correlations.
