Effect of the in-medium nucleon-nucleon interaction on the nucleus-nucleus cross-sections

Abstract

Empirical formula for in-medium nucleon-nucleon cross-section is used to study the nuclear reaction using the modified Glauber models I and II. New formulae for phase shifts are found which are important for the description of nucleus-nucleus scattering. This study involves the calculation of the total, absorption and elastic cross-sections for different projectiles and targets at different bombarding energies. The complex volume integrals of the optical potential are calculated. The replacement of the nucleon-nucleon cross-section in the free space by their values in the nuclear medium reduces the calculated cross-sections by few percents at most. The in-medium effects are more important for lighter nuclei at lower energies.
