Abstract

Several (p, γ) reactions involved in explosive nucleosynthesis have been studied by the Coulomb dissociation method. Radioactive isotope (RI) beams of about 100 MeV/nucleon bombard a lead target, and breakup fragments are measured in coincidence. The reactions 8B(p, γ)9C, 11C(p, γ)12N and 12N(p, γ)13O in the hot pp mode, and Mg(p, γ)23Al in the rp process were newly studied, The role of the subthreshold state at 6.79 MeV in 150 has been studied by a Coulomb excitation measurement, based on the same reaction mechanism.
