Interaction of 8He nuclei with α particles and protons at a beam energy of 26 MeV/n

Abstract

Angular distributions of elastically scattered 8He ions on 4He and on protons at the beam energy of 26 MeV/n are presented. An attempt to observe a backward-angle rise of the 8He+4He cross-section is reported. The forward-angle 4He data are analyzed with a double folding, density dependent model. Finite range DWBA was applied in order to estimate the contributions from the transfer reactions. It was found that the 2-step process is more important than the 1-step transfer. It seems that eikonal approximation is applicable for the description of elastic scattering 8He+p at this energy.
