Abstract
Level schemes of and nuclei have been extended to high spin. The breakup of the doubly magic core has been observed. Large-scale shell model calculations based on realistic nucleon-nucleon interactions are in good agreement with the experimental data. These results provide a reliable basis to predict nuclear structure properties in and its neighbors. For example, the size of the shell gap and the energy of the first excited state in have been deduced.
