Experimental yield and evaluation of proton induced reactions for neutron production and synthesis of beryllium-7 using lithium compounds as target material
2020, Applied Radiation and IsotopesCitation Excerpt :Produced neutrons from 7Li (p,n)7Be reaction can contribute in several reactions; mainly, 7Be (n,p)7Li (Koehler et al., 1988; Červená et al., 1989) with cross section reaching 107 mb at the thermal range, see Fig. 5. Another depleting reaction is associated with proton capture in 7Be (p,non)8B (Kikuchi et al., 1998; Iwasa et al., 1999; Hass et al., 1999; Terrasi et al., 2001; Strieder et al., 2001; Baby et al., 2003). Both processes act as exhaustion for the neutron production; at certain level of target activation, inverse reaction became in equilibrium with producing reaction.
