Abstract

The dynamic deformation theory with the pairing plus quadrupole interaction is applied to study the multiphonon band structure in 168Er. Three Kπ=0+, two Kπ=2+, and Kπ=4+ bands have been analyzed. The lower four bands are also analyzed in the interacting boson model. The nature of the Kπ=02 and 03 and Kπ=4+ bands is discussed.
